Film Music: "Truman Sleeps" for Guitar
This cue was composed by Philip Glass for the 1998 film “The Truman Show”, directed by Peter Weir. It was originally composed for Piano and here you can find my arrangement for guitar. The piece has been transposed in the key of E minor, to take full advantage of open strings and therefore to keep the melody at the top of the voicings while trying to keep the arpeggiated motion of the accompanying chordal structure. This cue is in the typical Glass’ style of simplicity and economy of means, but still it is a rather charming and delicate piece. Harmonically, it cycles through 4 simple triads in either root or inverted positions. Furthermore, this theme has a utterly symmetrical construction, with the main melody following a soft, arch shape.
